STRIKE Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 13, 2026
STRIKE ("STRIKE", "we", "us") is a fishing log and community app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using STRIKE, you agree to this policy.
Location matters to us. STRIKE records the precise GPS location of your catches because that data is the heart of a fishing log. Please read the
Location Information section carefully — it explains exactly when your precise spots are kept private and when they are shared.
Information We Collect
Account information
- Email address and password (passwords are stored in hashed form by our authentication provider — we never see your plain password).
- Username, display name, optional bio, and optional profile photo.
- If you sign in with Google, Google provides your email address and basic profile information.
Catch and activity data
- Details you log about a catch: species, weight, length, photo, notes, date and time, water body name, the lure used, and weather/moon conditions at the time.
- Precise GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) of your catches.
- Social activity: follows, blocks, likes, comments, and friend-group memberships.
Photos
- Photos you add to catches or your profile are uploaded to our cloud storage. Photos attached to catches you share publicly or to a group are accessible to people who can view that catch.
- Photos can contain embedded metadata (such as the location and time the photo was taken). Be aware of this if you share photos taken elsewhere.
Information stored on your device
- Your preferences (such as measurement units and notification settings) and your local catch history are stored on your device.
Location Information
STRIKE uses your device location only when you are logging a catch or asking the app to identify the water you are on. How your location is then handled depends on where you share a catch:
- Public community feed: we display only the name of the water body (for example, "Old River Lake") — not your precise coordinates. Your exact spot is not shown publicly.
- Private friend groups: if you choose to share a catch to one of your private groups, the precise GPS location is shared with the members of that group (so they can navigate to the spot). Only share to groups you trust.
- Crowdsourced water names: when you name or confirm a water body, that name and its approximate coordinates may be added to a shared database that helps other anglers automatically identify the same water in the future.
- "Where fish are biting" map: we show water bodies with recent activity at the water-body level. Individual anglers' precise catch coordinates are not exposed on this public map.
- "Nearby" feed: if you choose the Nearby feed, your device location is used to find public catches within your selected radius. The distance calculation happens on our servers; other anglers' precise coordinates are never sent to your device, and your location is used only to perform the search.
You control location at the device level — you can deny or revoke STRIKE's location permission in your device or browser settings at any time. If you do, automatic water detection and catch coordinates will not be available.
How We Use Information
- To provide the app: store your catches, show your feed, run leaderboards, power friend groups, and sync your data across devices.
- To identify fish: catch photos you submit for AI identification are sent to our AI provider for processing (see Third-Party Services).
- To provide fishing context: your coordinates are sent to weather and mapping services to retrieve conditions and water information.
- To maintain safety and integrity: to enforce our Terms, respond to reports, and remove abusive content.
How Information Is Shared
We do not sell your personal information. Information is shared only:
- With other users, according to your choices (public feed, friend groups, profile, comments).
- With service providers who operate the app on our behalf (see below).
- If required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of STRIKE or others.
Third-Party Services
STRIKE relies on the following providers to function. Your data is processed by them only as needed to deliver the service:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and photo storage.
- Netlify — web hosting and serverless functions.
- Anthropic — AI fish identification. When you use AI fish ID, the catch photo is sent to Anthropic's API to identify the species.
- OpenWeatherMap — weather conditions, requested using your coordinates.
- U.S. Geological Survey (The National Map) and OpenStreetMap — water-body lookup and map data, requested using your coordinates.
- Google — optional sign-in, and Google Maps links used for directions to shared group spots.
Your Choices and Rights
- Edit or delete catches at any time in the app.
- Control visibility by choosing whether a catch is private, public, or shared to a friend group.
- Block users to hide their content from you.
- Manage location via your device/browser permissions.
- Delete your account and associated data by contacting us at the address below. Depending on your region, you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information.
Data Retention
We keep your account and catch data until you delete it or ask us to delete your account. Some information may be retained as required for legal, security, or backup purposes.
Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections and access controls, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
STRIKE is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as STRIKE adds features. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the app.
